ST. CLAIR 105, MOHAWK 86

HAMILTON, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's basketball team handed Mohawk their eighth straight loss in OCAA West Division play with a 105-86 drubbing in Hamilton, Ont., on Saturday night.

Mohawk looked to be in control early knocking down triples and took a 32-19 lead over the Saints after the first quarter. But St. Clair righted the ship in the second quarter closing to within just a 48-42 Mohawk advantage by halftime. The tide had turned and the Saints continued to mount pressure in the third quarter overtaking Mohawk and rolled to 42 points in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

St. Clair rebounded well winning the war on the glass 59-45 but also scored 35 points on 28 Mohawk turnovers. The Saints also got to the free throw line frequently converting nearly 80 per cent for 23 points to just eight makes for Mohawk.

William Lara-Caston (Windsor/JL Forster) scored a game-high 27 points leading six Saints in double figures while dishing out four assists. Lance Drummonds (Hamilton) scored 18 points with Andrés Bravo (Panama City, Panama) and Gil Atencio (Panama City, Panama) each recording a double-double for St. Clair. Bravo scored 16 points to go with 13 rebounds while Atencio scored 13 points adding 10 rebounds. Jermaine Lynch (Windsor/JL Forster) also scored 13 points with Charles Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) chipping in with 10 points for St. Clair.

Mohawk's Matt Elcock (Waterdown) scored 21 points in the loss.
