STING WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
In a rematch of the last year's championship final, the Seneca Sting (North York) easily defeated the Fleming Knights (Peterborough) 32-7 to win the 2005 OCAA Rugby Championships.

In a rematch of the last year's championship final, the
Seneca Sting (North York) easily defeated the
Fleming Knights (Peterborough) 32-7 to win the
2005 OCAA Rugby Championships. The win caps off a perfect season
for the Sting (8-0) and marks the fifth straight year the Sting
have captured the OCAA crown. For his outstanding performance at
the Championships, Aaron Graham of Seneca earned
Championship MVP honours.
In the Championship game, Seneca had a well-rounded attack as five
players found their way on the scoresheet. Captain Eric
Hannah (OCAA Top Scorer) led the way for the Sting scoring
12-points (2 tries and 1 convert) earning himself the player of the
game award. Aaron Graham, Adam
Handscomb, Paul Steyn and Matt
Wood combined for 20-points, each scoring one try apiece.
Leading the way for the Knights with 7-points was Steve Basel,
scoring one try and a convert in the loss.
To advance to the finals, Seneca narrowly defeated the Humber Hawks
(Etobicoke) 10-0 where as Fleming defeated the Conestoga Condors
(Kitchener) 28-12.
In the bronze medal game, Conestoga came out on
top with a 12-5 win. Leading the Condors with one try each were
Colin Stroeder and Matt Lindsay.
Joel Hussey rounded out the scoring for Conestoga
adding a convert. For his tough play, Nick Milbury
earned player of the game honours for the Condors. Andre
Rose-Green scored the Hawks lone try. Rose-Green had an
outstanding tournament, earning the player of the game honour in
both of the Hawks matches.
