MARKHAM, Ont. - The Humber Hawks men's rugby have advanced to
their fifth consecutive OCAA men's rugby gold medal game, as they
defeated the Seneca Sting by a score of 39-0 on Sunday.
Humber will now play the Mohawk Mountaineers for the OCAA title on
Sunday, Nov. 14 at Fletcher's Field in Markham. These two teams
faced each other in the 2009 final, with Mohawk winning on the last
play of the game. Kick-off is at 11:30 a.m.
The game, which was played at Seneca, saw Humber dominate the
entire affair. In fact the Hawks pinned Seneca early on three
separate occasions and if not for penalties could have won by an
even bigger margin.
Although they did not score, Mike Muto and national program team
member Tyler Allen were the two best players on the field on the
the day.
Ed Donnelly led Humber with two tries for 10 points. The five other
players to score tries were Nathan Le, Preston Boyce, Andrew
Petricca, Paul Harding and Greg Giliauskas. Phil Boone contributed
two converts, for four points.
Seneca had defeated the Hawks earlier in the season by a score of
18-15. Humber was undermanned on that day, due to injuries and team
discipline.
