TORONTO - The Loyalist Lancers need only a victory over
Algonquin on Saturday to win its third straight Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) Division II men's rugby
championship.
The undefeated Lancers are also on the verge of their third
straight undefeated season, a stretch that has lasted 19 matches.
Loyalist's last loss came in the 2008 gold medal match against St.
Lawrence-Kingston.
St. Lawrence goes for its first OCAA medal since 2008 when it
hosts Georgian in the bronze medal match. Georgian has been
runner-up the past two seasons.

OCAA Gold Medal Match
Saturday, Nov. 5 - 1 p.m.
Loyalist is in familiar territory once again, reaching its fourth
consecutive Division II gold medal match. Its opponent is not as
familiar, however.
Algonquin has guaranteed itself at least a silver medal in its
first-ever men's rugby season. The Thunder upset St. Lawrence 24-11
on the road in last weekend's semi-final to earn a trip to the OCAA
final. Loyalist upended Georgian 62-14 in the other semi-final.
Loyalist defeated Algonquin 35-12 on Oct. 22 in the only regular
season meeting between the teams. Connor McCann
and Lucas Shillington both scored two tries in the
victory. Robert Ford and Jim
Nelles scored one try each for Algonquin.

OCAA Bronze Medal Match
Saturday, Nov. 12 - 1 p.m.
Although St. Lawrence was upset by Algonquin in last week's
semi-final, it still has an opportunity to win its first rugby
medal in three seasons.
St. Lawrence defeated Georgian 25-7 in a regular season match back
on Oct. 15. Travis Smiley earned 10 points in the
victory with two penalty kicks and a pair of converts.
Austin St. Amant scored Georgian's only try in the
match.
St. Lawrence won the first-ever OCAA Division II men's rugby title
in 2008, while Georgian has earned silver medals the past two
seasons.
