TRENT 15, CONESTOGA 13 (FINAL)
The Excalibur opened their OCAA playoffs with a 15-13 win over the Conestoga Condors on Friday night.
Trent opened the scoring with a penalty goal from Graham Abbott. Conestoga came back with a penalty of their own to even the game. The Condors pulled ahead on a try by Cam O'Neill and went into the halftime holding a 10-3 lead.
Peterborough native Adam Anderson drew Trent to within two points as an Excalibur maul gained 20 metres and Anderson slipped loose for the try. Abbott missed the convert from a difficult angle. Tim Dineen added another second half try to put Trent ahead 15-10.
Conestoga would add a penalty kick, but their last minute attempts to score a game winning try were turned aside by the tough Excalibur defence.
With the win, Trent advances to the OCAA Division I semi-finals to be played November 5. The location, time and opponent of the semi-final has yet to be determined.
