TORONTO - Durham College's Devonne Henry (Whitby) is the 2025 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Rugby Player of the Year.
The first-year fullback was the OCAA Scoring Champion tallying 79 points in six matches. Henry scored a league-high 10 tries, scoring at least one in each league match, while adding 10 converts and three penalty kicks. Henry has been the last line of defence and is one of the team leaders in open field tackles made this season. The League All-Star led the Durham Lords to an unblemished 6-0 record and the regular season championship.
The OCAA Rookie of the Year is Jayce Kroes (Milton) of Humber Polytechnic. The freshman flank quickly established himself as one of the most promising newcomers in the OCAA. Kroes consistently brings high energy, strong defensive pressure, and leadership beyond his years. Kroes' impact on both sides of the ball has been crucial to Humber's success. Also named a League All-Star, Kroes headlines the OCAA All-Rookie Team.
Humber's Fabian Rayne is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The defending provincial champions led the conference in scoring with 258 points in six matches. The Hawks finished second in the league with a 5-1 record despite seeing 16 new faces added to the roster and the loss of five key veterans. Rayne is a highly regarded coach provincially, having previously coached Ontario to two national titles.
James Robb-Kennedy (Barrie) of Humber is the OCAA Defensive Player of the Year. The fifth-year veteran anchors the Humber back row with exceptional consistency and physicality. As a flank, his tackling efficiency, breakdown dominance, and relentless work rate have made him a nightmare for opposing offences, while also scoring four tries for the Hawks. Robb-Kennedy is also a League All-Star.
The Georgian Grizzlies are honoured as the OCAA's Best Defensive Team for allowing a league-fewest 79 points against in six matches.
Joining Henry, Kroes and Robb-Kennedy as League All-Stars are Luke Flores (Columbus, Ohio) and Aung Thein (Ottawa) of Algonquin College; Houston Kaufman (Kitchener), Leo Tomes (Oakville), Aidan Vachon (Brantford) and Blake Wilson (Brantford) of Conestoga College; Owen MacKinnon (Whitby), Dylan McLean-Henry (Pickering), Ethan Montgomery (Whitby) and Taylor Payne (Brock) of Durham; Robert Allen (Alliston), Parker England (Barrie), Evan Mino (Barrie) and Kade Rennie (Collingwood) of Georgian College; Harry Lutumba-Mpongo (Scarborough), Cooper Markou (Mississauga) and Nick Rakobowchuk (Ottawa) of Humber; Alex Arsenault (Prince Edward County), Brady Fawcett (Wolfe Island) and Lane Labelle (Ottawa) of St. Lawrence College; Kyle Moller (Pretoria, South Africa), Chris Rojas (Scarborough) and William Ryan (Peterborough) of Seneca Polytechnic; and Keegan Fernandes (Mississauga) and Luke Hitchmough (Ottawa) of Sheridan College.
Along with Kroes, members of the OCAA All-Rookie Team include Algonquin's Hussein Al Trejawi (Ottawa); Conestoga's Tomes; Durham's Payne; Georgian's Mino; St. Lawrence's Arsenault, Seneca's Ryan and Sheridan's Hitchmough.
