OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's soccer team earned their second straight victory on Saturday as they defeated the Fleming Knights 1-0 at the Civic Fields.
Marco Trotta of Oshawa scored the game winning goal at the 66 minute mark, lifting the Lords to the shutout victory.
Durham's defence, which is anchored by captain Duncan Mitchell (Pickering, Ont.), held Fleming scoreless as Brett Smith earned his second straight shutout in between the pipes for Durham.
This marks the 13th time in 14 years that Durham has defeated Fleming College in OCAA men's soccer.
After suffering two tough losses to start the year, Durham is back at .500 with a 2-2 record and in the hunt for a playoff position. Fleming, who is led by Tony Bombino (brother of Durham's head coach Stan Bombino), falls to 2-3-0 on the year.
Durham will be back on the field on Wednesday afternoon as they have a road game against the St. Lawrence Vikings. Kick-off is at 4 p.m.
