DURHAM 1, CAMBRIAN 0 (PK)

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Durham College men's soccer team advanced to the second round of the OCAA playoffs after beating the Cambrian Golden Shield 3-2 in penalty kicks following a 0-0 draw.

The Lords had to fight some adversity in the win, as veteran midfielder Luke Morrison had a separated shoulder 10 minutes into the game and Daniel Sukovski was issued two yellow cards putting the Lords down a man early in the second half.

Playing in tough weather conditions up north, Durham managed to shut down the Golden Shield offence over ninety minutes of regulation and 30 minutes of overtime to force a shootout.

Lords goalkeeper Brett Smith came up big in the shootout, while Lords strikers were on target as Durham managed to walk away with the 3-2 advantage.

With the win, Durham is unbeaten in seven games as they advance to the round of eight in the OCAA postseason for the first time since 2007.

The Lords will head west to take on the St. Clair Saints, who finished in first place in the OCAA west region with a 6-1-1 record. A trip to the provincial championship is on the line.

This was Cambrian's first time hosting a playoff match in school history.
