OTTAWA - The Conestoga Condors won their second gold medal in three seasons at the 2025 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Soccer Championship.
Conestoga defeated the defending champion Humber Hawks 2-0 in the gold medal match. OCAA League First-Team All-Star Luca Romano (Kitchener) scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the 13th minute of play on a feed by third-year student-athlete Ricardo Alvarado (Cambridge).
After the half time break, Romano set up OCAA League Second-Team All-Star Marko Lesic (Kitchener) to give the Condors a two-score advantage.
The Hawks could not solve Conestoga's defence, as All-Canadian goalkeeper Pedja Jovicic (Kitchener) stopped all seven shots Humber had on net.
Lesic was named Championship MVP, while teammates Alvarado and second-year student-athlete Matteo Grant (Kitchener) were named Championship All-Stars.
Humber had defeated Conestoga twice during the regular season, winning both matches 1-0. With the silver medal, the Hawks have earned OCAA medals in each of the past 15 seasons. Second-year defender Carmine Fiore (Woodbridge) and fourth-year defender Isaiah Noel (Toronto) were named Championship All-Stars for the Hawks.
Both teams may meet again as both advance to next month's 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer National Championship in Saint-Lambert, Que. The Hawks are the defending national champions. Last year featured an All-Ontario final between Humber and the Algonquin Wolves.
In the bronze medal match, the Seneca Sting prevailed 2-0 over host Algonquin. Third-year striker Lucas Basmadjian (Markham) opened the scoring in the 28 minute, with fourth-year striker Michael Pellegrini (Richmond Hill) adding an insurance goal in the final 11 minutes of regulation.
Seneca second-year goalkeeper Nolan Freel (St. Catharines) stopped all 17 shots the Wolves put on goal. The Sting wins the OCAA bronze medal for the third straight championship and increases their OCAA medal streak to six.
Third-year midfielder Lorenzo Mayer (Toronto) and second-year striker Alix Basa (Congo) were named Championship All-Stars for the Sting and Wolves, respectively.
