OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham College men's volleyball captain Steve Clarey reached the 600 career point plateau in a 3-0 win over the Loyalist Lancers at the CRWC on Wednesday Night.
In five seasons with Durham College, Clarey has recorded 602 career points, two points behind Adam Schiedel who is second overall with 604 points. The Baltimore, Ont. native has had an outstanding career at Durham as he is third in all-time kills (483), second in aces (77) and third in points (602).
Joining Clarey in the offensive rout was Brad VanHartingsveldt and Craig Lush, who dominated the Lancers defence with 11 kills apiece. VarHartingsveldt had 16 points of total offence while Lush had 13.
After suffering their first loss of the year last weekend, Durham bounced back with a dominating win with sets scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-21. Durham made a statement to begin the game, getting out to a 10-1 lead.
Durham is in first place in the OCAA east region with a 9-1 record, tied with the Seneca Sting. The Lords first conference game in 2013 is scheduled for January 9 against the Fleming Knights (4-6). Game time at the CRWC is at 8 p.m.
In three seasons as head coach of the Lords, Andrew Hinchey has compiled a conference record of 40-8 for an impressive .833 winning percentage.
