The St. Clair men's volleyball team had a good weekend as they split their first two regular season matches on the road.
On Saturday, the Saints travelled to Hamilton, Ont. to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers. St. Clair played a solid match defeating Mohawk 3-1. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, and 25-21. Jason Hernandez (Harrow) led the way offensively for St. Clair with 18 kills and one stuff block. Mohawk fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss.
On Sunday, St. Clair travelled to Welland, Ont., to do battle with the top-ranked Niagara Knights. The Saints struggled in this match losing 3-0. Game scores for Niagara were 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19. Hernandez led the way offensively once again with 10 kills. Travis Wigle (Kingsville) also had a strong match with nine kills. Niagara's record improved to 3-0 with the win.
The Saints will open their home schedule this coming weekend. St. Clair will host two new members to the OCAA West Division. On Saturday, the Saints will host Boreal College at 4 p.m. and on Sunday St. Clair will host Cambrian College at 2 p.m.
