SUDBURY, Ont. - For the second straight year, Cambrian College plays host to the 2026 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Volleyball Championship beginning Friday at Cambrian College Gymnasium in Sudbury, Ont.
The same three teams that have medalled at the past three provincials have returned for a fourth straight year. The host Cambrian Shield, five-time defending champion Humber Hawks and Fanshawe Falcons will be joined by the upstart Seneca Sting who have not reached the OCAA podium since 2010.
The championship will feature a pair of All-Canadians in Humber's Teyven Blackmore (Beechville, N.S.) and Cambrian's Sam George (Sudbury).
A pair of semifinals will take place on Friday, with OCAA bronze and gold medal matches taking place on Saturday. The OCAA champion will advance to the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Volleyball National Championship taking place in Edmonton, Alta.
All games will be streamed for free on OCAA LIVE.
Fanshawe Falcons, London (11-5, 3rd West) vs Cambrian Shield, Sudbury (13-3, 1st West)
Friday, Feb. 27 - 5:30 p.m.
Third time's a charm in more ways than one.
The Fanshawe Falcons and Cambrian Shield meet not only for the third time this OCAA season, but the third time in four years at the OCAA championship. The previous two semi-finals both went the Falcons way.
Veteran Shield players will be playing with a measure of revenge in mind, while current Cambrian student-athletes will recall losing at Fanshawe in four sets back in November. The Shield evened the season series earlier this month with a straight sets win at home.
The Shield have won 10 of their last dozen matches. Cambrian third-year right side Liam Hansen (Perth) led all OCAA players averaging 4.5 points per set during the regular season, and was second with a 3.61 kills per set average. George, a second-year setter, led all of OCAA averaging 9.45 assists per set, while second-year player Cale Bast (Sudbury) had a team-high 96 digs for the Shield.
Fifth-year outside hitter Tanner Paterson (Baden) led the Falcons averaging 3.4 points per set during the regular season, averaging 2.52 kills. Second-year setter Jakob Curtis (Hamilton) was in the Top 10 in assists per set averaging 7.98, while second-year player Jacob Goldszmidt (London) had a team-high 66 digs for Fanshawe.
Cambrian won its first-ever regular season championship in 2025-26 and would love to add its first-ever OCAA championship. Fanshawe last won the OCAA title in 2019, also winning the national crown.
Humber Hawks, Toronto (11-5, 2nd West) vs Seneca Sting, King City (15-1, 1st East)
Friday, Feb. 27 - 8 p.m.
The Humber Hawks are two wins away from history, chasing their 12th OCAA championship in program history. They are currently tied for the all-time lead with the Sheridan Bruins with 11 each.
Standing in the way at the moment are the East Division champion Seneca Sting, winners of 17 of 18 matches this season. The Sting have the longest active winning streak of seven matches, losing just two sets during this span.
Seneca first-year outside hitter Logan Vorster (Auckland, New Zealand) was third in the conference averaging 3.58 kills per set during the regular season, and in the Top 10 averaging 4.0 points per set. Sting second-year setter Ben Therrien (Fort McMurray Alta.) was sixth in the OCAA averaging 8.49 assists per set, as was fourth-year libero Jaeson Bernal (Scarborough) averaging 2.16 digs per set.
Blackmore, a fifth-year outside hitter, led all OCAA players during the regular season averaging 3.62 kills per set, and was fifth averaging 4.2 points per set. Third-year setter Nicolas Kozij (Ottawa) averaged 7.14 assists per set, while Humber first-year teammate Enzo Endres (Sao Paulo, Brazil) averaged a team-high 1.79 digs per set.
Seneca is in a similar situation as host Cambrian, having never won an OCAA championship. The Sting last won an OCAA medal in 2010 (silver).
