KINGSTON, Ont. – St. Lawrence College is pleased to
announce the hiring of Remy Simpson as the new
head coach for the Vikings women's basketball team.
Simpson is a familiar face at St. Lawrence College, as he was a
member of the Vikings men's basketball team from 2004 to 2006 and
2008 to 2010.
"I'm excited to take on the challenge of creating a winning
program," said Simpson.
"Remy was a leader when he represented the Vikings on the court and
is very much a student of the game," said St. Lawrence College
Athletic Director Brad Greenwood. "I expect that
Remy will bring his drive, determination and enthusiasm for the
game to his new role as women's basketball coach. We are delighted
that Remy will continue to be a part of SLC Athletics."
Simpson takes over head coaching duties from Andrea
Blackwell, who had to leave the team to attend a personal
commitment.
"We appreciate Andrea's time and commitment to our program, wish
her all the best, and hope to see her back with the Vikings in the
near future," added Greenwood.
The St. Lawrence Vikings women's basketball team opens its Ontario
Colleges Athletic Association season on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.
when it hosts George Brown.
