NIAGARA 64, ST. CLAIR 55 (FINAL)
The Niagara College Knights women's basketball team split a pair of games in Southwestern Ontario this past weekend.
On Sunday, the Knights were able to bounce back with a 64-55 win over the St. Clair College Saints in Windsor. Fourth-year guard Allana Arundell (Toronto) had a game-high 25 points for Niagara. Shelby Johnston (Welland, Ont.) contributed with 19.
"It was nice to see the girls bounce back after a tough loss, and display a very positive attitude throughout the game," said head coach Ron Lemon.
The win snaps a four game losing streak and moves the Knights into 8th place in the OCAA West region with a 2-4 record.
Amanda McCarthy (Windsor/Assumption) led the Saints with 15 points adding six rebounds. Point guard Price Price (Fort McMurray, Alta.) had 14 points adding eight assists. Kelly Rizea (Windsor/Vincent Massey) and also reached double figures for the Saints with 10 points.
The St. Clair women travel this weekend to face Sheridan (Brampton) on Saturday and Humber (Etobicoke) on Sunday before returning home to face Fanshawe (London) on Friday, Dec. 2 in their final league games before the holiday break.
On Wednesday, the Knights will take on the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves in exhibition action. Game time is 6 p.m. at Niagara College's new Athletic Centre.
The team will return to league action this Saturday when they travel to Ancaster, Ont. to face the winless Redeemer University College Royals (0-5). Game time is 2 p.m.
The next home game for the Knights will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 30 against the Sheridan College Bruins (4-1). Game time is 6 p.m. at Niagara College's new Athletic Centre.
