EMERY BREAKS DURHAM'S ALL-TIME WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCORING RECORD
OSHAWA, Ont. - Erin Emery became the Durham College all-time career leading scorer on Friday night as she scored 14 points in a 61-50 loss to the George Brown Huskies.
OSHAWA, Ont. – Erin Emery became the Durham College all-time career leading scorer on Friday night as she scored 14 points in a 61-50 loss to the George Brown Huskies.
Emery has 891 career points in five years with the Lords passing Bonnie Slaughter who was the previous record holder with 886 points.
The North Bay, Ont. native will go down as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in Durham College history having been named the Durham College rookie of the year, a three-time OCAA all-star and team MVP, an OCAA and CCAA academic award winner, the Bonnie-Ginter Brown Leadership award winner and now capturing the scoring title.
George Brown spoiled the party however winning the game by 11 points. Durham got off to a slow start trailing by 10 points after one quarter. The Lords would chip away at the lead to get within three points during the third quarter, but George Brown went on an 11-0 run to seal the victory.
Kelsey Hare had a double-double for Durham with a team high 16 points and 11 rebounds while Emery finished with 14 points and six boards.
Janice Lui was George Brown's top player with 20 points shooting 10-for-16 from the field.
Durham is now 3-4 and in a tie with the Loyalist Lancers for fourth place in the OCAA East region.
The Lords next home game is on Tuesday, Dec. 6 against Loyalist at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to donate a toy at the game in support of the Sick Kids foundation.
