BAULK STEPS DOWN AS DURHAM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HEAD COACH

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College department of athletics would like to formally announce that Tim Baulk is leaving the women's basketball program and his post as head coach after six seasons. Baulk has made the decision to spend more time with his young family, focus on his teaching career and other interests.

"Coach Baulk represented our institution well from the day he took over the program both internally and externally," stated Ken Babcock, Director of Athletics. "The grind of coaching college basketball is not an easy one and having the ability to spend more time with his family and two young children is understandable. We thank him for his professionalism, integrity and dedication to Durham College. We respect his goals and ambitions and wish him nothing but the best."

Baulk joined the Lords with experience at the post secondary level as the assistant coach at York University from 1995 to 2002 and also a year prior at McMaster University. His background in coaching also included the provincial and national scope where he was the head coach of the women’s under 15 provincial team from 2001-2003.

In six years with the Lords, he compiled an overall record of 46-100 and 35-59 in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) conference play. His team qualified for the playoffs in four seasons, but ultimately missed out on a berth to the OCAA Championship. He was also a member of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) female coaching apprenticeship program, where he mentored Durham's all-time leading scorer Erin Emery who he also coached for five seasons.

"Coach Baulk has left a positive imprint on many players that he coached during the past six years and his mentorship of Erin with the CCAA National Apprenticeship program is just one shining example," stated Babcock.

The department of athletics will begin the search for a new women's basketball head coach immediately.
