FLEMING 78, DURHAM 41

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team could not overcome a rough first half as they suffered a 78-41 road loss to the Fleming Knights.

Durham shot 3-for-24 in the first half, scoring only eight points against the tough defence of the Knights. The Lords trailed 45-8 after 20 minutes. Although the Lords went stride for stride with Fleming in the second half, they were unable to close the first half gap.

Fleming's starters combined to score 68 of team's 78 points, which matched their highest offensive output of the season.

Keriann Sullivan led Durham in scoring with 15 points, all of which came in the second half. She also finished the night with five rebounds and three steals.

The Knights defence did a great job of containing Durham's leading scorer Kelsey Hare, who finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Coming into the game, the fourth year forward was averaging 16.1 points per game.

Fleming was lethal from distance, scoring 33 points off of three pointers. Kelly Killoran, who broke the OCAA record for most three pointers in a season last year (56), hit nine of them as she had a game-high 29 points.

Durham falls to 2-6 on the year while the Knights improve to 5-4. Durham's final game in 2012 is on the road against the Centennial Colts (3-4) on Wednesday, December 5.
