HAMILTON, Ont. - Rachelle Abella scored 23 points and added eight rebounds and 10 assists, to power Mohawk to an 81-68 win over St. Clair in women's play. Both teams are now 1-1.
Stef Hrymak had 12 points and Careena Browne added 10 for the Mountaineers in their home opener at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
Shannon Kennedy scored 23 points for the Saints, while Meighen Boyd and Veronica Uras had 10 each.

HAMILTON, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team went on the road to continue their OCAA west region schedule and lost 81-68 to Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ont., on Saturday night in the first of a two-game weekend swing.
The teams played relatively even through the first half and the Saints entered halftime down 29-27. But an early 19-0 run by Mohawk to start the second half created a significant cushion and forced St. Clair to play catch-up the remainder of the game. The Saints were out rebounded 51-38 as Mohawk enjoyed a 24-12 advantage on the offensive glass allowing 14 second chance points.
Second-year guard Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph) had a double-double scoring 23 points to go with 10 rebounds adding six assists and four steals to lead the Saints. Meighen Boyd (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) and Veronica Uras (Windsor, Ont./Vincent Massey) also reached double figures with 11 points each for St. Clair.
Rachelle Abella (Hamilton, Ont.) led Mohawk with 23 points.
