ST. CLAIR 76, CAMBRIAN 28
WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team was able to score at will Saturday night at the SportsPlex and recorded a lopsided 76-28 victory over Cambrian College (Sudbury, Ont.), drawing their OCAA West Region record to an even 4-4.
The Saints defence held the visiting Golden Shield to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters and 20 per cent shooting for the game. After outscoring Cambrian 29-4 in the second quarter St. Clair led 46-12 at halftime.
St. Clair's Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph) scored 18 of her game-high 22 points in the first half. Kennedy added four steals, three rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocked shots.
Torrie Handsor (Wallaceburg, Ont.) had a fine game scoring 12 points to go with 10 rebounds for the double-double. Lauren Pizzicaroli (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds. Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) showed a selfless approach setting up her teammates with seven assists.
Cambrian's Chantalle Thomas (Sudbury, Ont.) scored nine points in the loss.
