SENECA 62, DURHAM 45
OSHAWA, Ont. - If you took away the second quarter of Friday night's game between Durham College and Seneca College the result likely would've been different.
After edging the Seneca Sting 16-15 through the first quarter, the Lords allowed Seneca to go on a 14-0 run to open the second quarter. Heading into halftime they trailed 35-25.
Opening the second half by closing the gap to four, that was as close as the Lords would get for the remainder of the game, even though they won the third quarter 14-13. Seneca outscored Durham 14-6 in the final quarter en route to their 62-45 victory.
Kayla Marshall (Ottawa) and Alyxandrea Francisco (Whitby, Ont.) led Durham with 13 points apiece. Hope Eagleson (Plattsville, Ont.) scored four points in her OCAA women's basketball debut.
Marshall also led the team with seven rebounds and six assists.
Kelley Nichols' 14 points paced the Sting, while Nikea Worrell and Raye McNeilly added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Durham is off for the remainder of the weekend before travelling to Fleming on Jan. 14. Their next home game is Jan. 20 against George Brown.
