ANDERSON HEADLINES OCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AWARDS
TORONTO - Maddie Anderson (Whitby) of Mohawk College is the 2025-26 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
TORONTO - Maddie Anderson (Whitby) of Mohawk College is the 2025-26 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
Averaging 15.6 points per game while contributing heavily on the glass and logging significant minutes, the fifth-year guard impacts every possession with her relentless motor and elite versatility. Anderson is a true "Swiss Army knife," capable of playing and defending every position while creating matchup problems opponents simply cannot solve. Also named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian and West Division Player of the Year, Anderson headlines the West Division First-Team All-Stars.
Grace Callahan (Corbyville) of Loyalist College is the East Division Player of the Year. The fourth-year player rebounds, scores, creates, defends, and most importantly competes relentlessly. Callahan's energy is contagious and it elevates everyone around her. A true difference maker on both ends of the court, Callahan is also the East Division Defensive Player of the Year, leading the league averaging 4.3 steals per game. Also named a CCAA All-Canadian, Callahan headlines the East Division First-Team All-Stars.
Rounding out the CCAA All-Canadians is Ashlyn Anderson (Latchford) of Fanshawe College. The second-year forward recorded a double-double in 13 of 16 regular season games, and led all OCAA players with 214 rebounds, 49 blocks and a 56.5 field goal percentage. Her ability to play both ends of the floor is undeniable. The West Division Defensive Player of the Year is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.
Loyalist's Sophie Vanni (Hamilton) is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The point guard started every game for the Lancers and has been a model of consistency and impact. Averaging 11.9 points per game, Vanni scored in double digits 11 times. The East Division Rookie of the Year is an East Division Second-Team All-Star and headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.
Mya Tate (Windsor) of St. Clair College is the West Division Rookie of the Year. The guard averaged 12.8 points per game to lead all first-year players. Tate hit game winning shots on the road against Lambton as well as Humber on a buzzer beater. Also a West Division Second-Team All-Star, Tate headlines the West Division All-Rookie Team.
Loyalist's Caleb Hugh is the OCAA Coach of the Year. Hugh led the Lancers to a historic season, setting program records in multiple categories en route to a perfect 14-0 record and East Division championship. The East Division Coach of the Year is also the nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year.
Mohawk's Mihai Raducanu is the West Division Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Under Raducanu's leadership, the Mountaineers have evolved from a rebuilding program into a championship contender recognized for both its performance and identity. Mohawk won the West Division championship with a record of 15-1.
Sydney Shawyer (Horseshoe Valley) of Georgian College is the OCAA Scoring Champion. The second-year forward averaged 19.1 points per game, scoring 229 total points in a dozen contests. The East Division Scoring Champion is also an East Division First-Team All-Star.
Sydney Lazenby (Ancaster) of Redeemer University is the West Division Scoring Champion. The second-year guard averaged 17.3 points per game in 13 appearances for a total of 225 points scored. Lazenby is also a West Division Second-Team All-Star.
Loyalist's Nina Anderson (New Liskeard) is the East Division Sixth Woman of the Year. The second-year forward plays multiple positions and has been a steadying presence for the Lancers throughout the season. She averaged 10.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting 42.3 per cent from the field in 14 games.
Mohawk's Malak Dahawy (Waterloo) is the West Division Sixth Woman of the Year. The second-year guard provided the Mountaineers with elite production, energy, and composure whenever her number was called. Dahawy averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and had a 48.5 shooting percentage in 15 games.
The Seneca Sting and Fanshawe Falcons are recognized as the Best Defensive Team in the East and West Divisions, respectively. Seneca allowed 51.8 points against per game, while opponents averaged just 52.8 points against Fanshawe.
In addition to Maddie and Ashlyn Anderson, West Division First-Team All-Stars include Jamila Beckford (Waterloo) of Conestoga College; Sarah Baptie (Mississauga) of Humber Polytechnic; and Kaelyn Batten (LaSalle) of St. Clair. Joining Callahan and Shawyer as East Division First-Team All-Stars are Taryn Mitchell (Port Colbourne) of Algonquin College; Sarah-Jane Laplante (Montreal, Que.) of Durham College; and Jayme Foreman (Toronto) of George Brown College.
Along with Tate and Lazenby, West Division Second-Team All-Stars include Marley Bonnick (Brampton) of Humber; Maddy Bishop (Windsor) of Lambton College; and Joanna Smith (Simcoe) of Mohawk. Joining Vanni as East Division Second-Team All-Stars are Ami May (Raymond, Alta.) of Georgian; Kayley Lemaire (Sudbury) of Loyalist; and Tianna Leveridge (Scarborough) and Samantha Mendoza-Peers (Mississauga) of Seneca Polytechnic.
In addition to Vanni, East Division All-Rookie Team members include Chloe Coggin (Thunder Bay) of Algonquin; Jaida Tingling (Scarborough) of Centennial College; Sophia Syal (Tecumseh) of Georgian; and Jade Dominique-Pierre (Montreal, Que.) of Seneca.
Along with Tate, the West Division All-Rookie Team is made up of Lillian Bernard (Sarnia) of Lambton; Emma Vendittelli (Niagara Falls) of Niagara College; Sophia VanRaalte (Ancaster) of Redeemer; and Beatrice Clausen (Hamilton) of St. Clair.
