The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is proud to announce the thirty six members selected to the Men’s and Women’s Soccer All-Millennium team.
The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is proud to
announce the thirty six members selected to the Men’s and
Women’s Soccer All-Millennium team. The 18 men and 18 women
players who were nominated all played prior to the change of the
millennium.
The men’s team is led by the OCAA’s all-time leading
goal scorer and two time league scoring champion (82/83 &
83/84), Mike Everson of Fleming College Peterborough. Everson
scored 47 goals in his three year career with the Knights. In
total, six of the top all-time goal scorers have been named to the
team, including current Algonquin Thunder head coach, Mike Caruso,
who sits third all-time. Jesse Calabro of Humber College, also a
two time league scoring champion and the second all-time leading
goal scorer with 35, was also named a member.
The women’s team is headlined by St. Lawrence
Kingston’s Denise Morey, who was a two time league scoring
champion and currently sits fifth on the career scoring list with
31 goals in her two year career with the Vikings. In total, seven
former women’s scoring champions have been named to the team,
including fellow two time winner Jen Taggart of Seneca College, who
earned the title in the 1994-05 and 1995-06 seasons. Christina
Stoneman of Mohawk College is the only female member who currently
holds an OCAA Individual scoring record after she posted 7 goals in
a game during the 2000-01 season.
The All-Millennium teams were first announced in 2000, then
recognizing teams for Volleyball and Basketball. This year the OCAA
will recognize a total of sixty-eight former athletes as members of
the Women’s Fastball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer
and Men’s and Women’s Badminton All-Millennium teams.
These athletes will also be formally recognized at the OCAA Hall of
Fame Induction Ceremony in Windsor on April 29th, 2009.
