OSHAWA, Ont. – Second year striker Megan Arsenault recorded a hat-trick on Saturday as the Durham College women's soccer team defeated the Fleming Knights 3-1 in OCAA women's soccer action.
Arsenault (Ajax, Ont.) scored at the 31st, 54th and 86th minute, as she set a career high in goals for the green and gold.
Ruth Holland notched the Knights lone goal, as she scored in the 41st minute of the first half to tie the game at 1-1. Lords goalkeeper Sarah Broderick stopped everything else that Fleming sent her way, as she earned the win in net.
Head coach David Staley was impressed with his team's performance at the Civic, noting that the defence had a strong game holding down Fleming's top strikers.
Durham improves to 3-1-0 (7-1-0 overall) to sit in second place in the OCAA east region standings.
The Lords will travel to Kingston next Wednesday to take on the St. Lawrence Vikings for a 2 p.m. matinee.
Durham's next home game is on Saturday, September 29 at 2 p.m. against the Cambrian Golden Shield. The game will be played at the Civic Fields in Oshawa.
