WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's varsity soccer team hosted the Niagara Knights on Saturday afternoon at the main campus field and came away with a hard fought 3-1 win. With the win the Saints improved their record to four wins and two ties on the season.
The Saints got off to a slow start in this match with the Knights controlling most of the early play. Niagara went up 1-0 at the 13 minute mark. St. Clair tied things up at one in the 30th minute on a nice goal by Brittany Chapieski (Belle River, Ont.).
Shortly after that Nicole McKenzie (Belle River, Ont.) made it 2-1 on a nice header after a great cross from Melanie Daniel (Tecumseh, Ont.).
Neither team scored again until Tiffany Trembley (Tecumseh, Ont.) put the game away in the 89th minute. Katrina Arnold had a great game in net as Niagara had 12 shots on target compared to only nine for St. Clair.
The St. Clair women will conclude their regular season schedule on the road when they travel to the GTA area to take on the top ranked Humber Hawks and Sheridan Bruins next Saturday and Sunday. St. Clair is currently tied for second place with Sheridan and only two back of first place Humber. Sheridan is ranked 12th in Canada while Humber is ranked sixth in the country.
