SENECA 2, ST. CLAIR 1

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's soccer team suffered a tough loss on Friday night at the OCAA championship in their semi-final match. The Saints were defeated 2-1 by the Seneca Sting who are the defending OCAA champions and CCAA bronze medalists. The championship is being host in Peterborough, Ont., by Fleming College.

St. Clair got on the board first in the 37th minute on a goal by Bella Riccardi. Seneca tied the game up at 1-1 in the 47th minute on a scramble in front of the Saints goal. The Sting went up 2-1 in the 63rd minute after a bad break for St. Clair as the ball deflected off a Saints defender and snuck into the net. St. Clair put on the pressure for the last 20 minutes and had some great chances to get the equalizer but couldn't put one past the Seneca keeper. Katrina Arnold had a solid game in goal making some key saves early to keep the Saints in it. Emily Ditty was named the player of the game for the Saints.

St. Clair will now face the Cambrian Golden Shield on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the bronze medal match. Cambrian ended the regular season in second place in the East Division with a record of 8-2-2. The Saints will be attempting to win their first OCAA outdoor soccer medal since 1999 when they also won bronze.
