ANCASTER, Ont. - Mohawk's soccer teams won and lost in their games with Lambton in Ancaster, Ont., on Saturday night.
The Mountaineer women got a goal from Gabrielle Krebs in the third minute and were well on their way to a 5-0 victory over the Lions, at the Redeemer Outdoor Field.
Taylor Campbell had two goals and Rachelle DeJong got one as Mohawk built a 4-0 first half lead. Their fifth goal, with three minutes left in the contest, was scored by Laura Fable.
Jessica Campbell and Madison Fitzpatrick each played one half in goal to share a clean sheet. Campbell, who started between the sticks, made an excellent save on a Lambton penalty kick in the 18th minute.
The result left both teams with 2-2 records in the West Division.
It was a much different story for the Mohawk men. Andre Fluegel's goal in the 81st minute gave Lambton a 2-1 victory.
The teams each scored in the first half. Ephraim Cirillo capped a brilliant individual effort in the 34th minute, blasting a shot off the post and in, to give the hosts a 1-0 lead, But that was cancelled out with just over two minutes remaining in the first half, by Lambton's Corey Jackson.
Lambton improved to 2-2 in the West Division, while Mohawk dropped to 1-2-1.
