SENECA 3, CONESTOGA 0
OSHAWA, Ont. - The Seneca College women's volleyball team earned a spot in the OCAA semi-finals after sweeping Conestoga College in the opening round of the provincial championship. Set scores were 25-15, 25-22 and 25-22.
The Sting were led up front by outside hitter and game MVP Lindsay Ballance (Napanee, Ont.) who totalled 37 attacks earning 15 kills while also assisting defensively with a team leading 12 digs. Her power and finesse allowed for several other teammates to benefit and standout as she would draw several additional Conestoga defenders later in the match. Front-court players Tina O'Donnell (Scarborough, Ont.) and Rebecca Sobie (Mississauga, Ont.) were able to capitalize with the additional pressure placed on Ballance and push the team into a winning effort.
Conestoga battled throughout and saw exceptional play from game MVP Brieanne Gallant (Kitchener, Ont.) who allowed the Condors to sustain several long rallies including a third set surge that nearly extended the match into a fourth set.
