GEORGIAN 3, CONESTOGA 0
OSHAWA, Ont. - The Georgian College women's volleyball team swept Conestoga College to earn a spot in the bronze medal semi-finals at the OCAA championship being held at Durham College.
The Grizzlies jumped out to early leads throughout the three sets but would have to stifle several late Conestoga charges. OCAA all-star Natalie Buck (Keswick, Ont.) once again led her team collecting a team leading 12 kills and earning the game MVP. Buck was complimented by fellow front-court teammates Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) and Erin McClean (Barrie, Ont.) who combined for 14 kills and 10 digs.
Conestoga were slow out of the gates but game MVP Mallory O'Hara (Kitchener, Ont.) was able to lead the Condors on several late set rallies including a first set thriller which saw the side from Kitchener come to within two points of victory. O'Hara collected five kills, seven digs and a service ace. Conestoga libero Brieanne Gallant (Kitchener, Ont.) also stood out for the Condors registering a team-leading 17 digs to maintain several of the Conestoga rallies.
Georgian now advances to the bronze medal semi-final round where they will face the loser of Friday night's primetime matchup between Trent University and defending six-time OCAA champions Humber College. The match will take place Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
