ETOBICOKE, Ont. - It was a plucky effort by the Mohawk women's volleyball team, but Humber made it 16 wins in a row, with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 victory over the 6-11 Mountaineers in Etobicoke, Ont., on Wednesday.
Thalia Hanniman had eight kills, six service aces, one stuff block and eight defensive digs to lead the host Hawks to victory.
Mohawk head coach Andrew Nicholson said his side, which he called a special group of young women, put Humber under pressure right to the end.
For the Mountaineers, Alexandria Pulham had eight kills. Yvonne Mann had four kills, 19 assists and 10 digs. Brittany Gingrich and Jessna Marmo collected four kills each.
The Mountaineers final match of the season will be Saturday at home against the Redeemer Royals. It will get under way at 4 p.m.
