The Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) moves into the quarter-finals in women's volleyball, with four elimination matches taking place this Saturday.
At stake is a ticket to the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship taking place over a two-day span between Feb. 21-23.
All but one West Division team survived last weekend's crossovers, with La Cité Coyotes the lone East Division squad moving into the Round of Eight.
The higher seeded teams play host to this Saturday's action, with the top surviving seed hosting the OCAA championship in a week's time.
Conestoga (7-11, 8th West) at Fanshawe (9-9, 4th West)
Saturday, Feb. 15 - 1 p.m.
The Conestoga Condors are playing the role of Cinderella this post-season, knocking off the previously undefeated East Division champion Seneca Sting on the road in four sets last Saturday.
Fifth-year outside hitter Abby Sluys (Thamsville) and third-year player Bianca Marchetti (Richmond Hill) combined for 42 of Conestoga's 64 points in the match, and 36 of 45 kills.
The Fanshawe Falcons handled the Centennial Colts at home in straight sets, as third-year outside hitter Grace McLean (Dorchester) and third-year middle Jaime Worsfold (Dorchester) contributed a team-high dozen points each.
Conestoga and Fanshawe split the two-match regular season series between these clubs, with the Falcons winning the season opener in four sets, and the Condors taking their most recent meeting in a sweep in late January.
Cambrian (9-9, 5th West) at Humber (18-0, 1st West)
Saturday, Feb. 15 - 1 p.m.
The Cambrian Shield also picked up a road victory last Saturday, knocking off the Algonquin Wolves in four sets. Third-year right side Jersey Masson (Kenora) recorded a match-high 16 points, while fourth-year left side Carlie Pappano (North Bay) was the match's co-leader with 14 kills.
The Humber Hawks continued their dominant ways easily overpowering the Loyalist Lancers in straight sets in the crossovers. Fourth-year right side Hannah Manners (Toronto) was the top offensive star for the Hawks with 10 kills and 11 points.
As the top seed Humber will host provincials next weekend if it defeats Cambrian for a third time this season. The Hawks took six out of seven sets against the Shield last autumn.
La Cité (13-5, 3rd East) at St. Clair (16-2, 2nd West)
Saturday, Feb. 15 - 7 p.m.
La Cité Coyotes is the last team standing in the East Division, easily handling the Mohawk Mountaineers at home in straight sets last Saturday.
Third-year outside hitter Natasha Grenier (Ottawa) and fourth-year outside hitter Akemi Boudreau (Beresford, N.B.) may not be twins, but they had identical stat lines of 11 kills and 13 points for the Coyotes.
For their efforts, the Coyotes now have to trek across the province to take on a strong St. Clair Saints team. The Saints swept the George Brown Huskies at home to advance to the quarter-finals.
Third-year middle blocker Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg) was St. Clair's offensive leader against the Huskies with 11 kills and 13 points.
Redeemer (8-10, 7th West) at Niagara (12-6, 3rd West)
Saturday, Feb. 15 - 8 p.m.
The Redeemer Royals are also bidding for the role of Cinderella this February, knocking out the national championship host Durham Lords on the road in four sets last Saturday.
Third-year middle Joelle Lammers (Lynden) and fourth-year outside hitter Rachel Annett (Melbourne) both contributed a baker's dozen in kills against the Lords.
The Niagara Knights were put to the test last Sunday in their crossover, losing the first two sets to the Canadore Panthers before roaring back for the reverse sweep.
Fifth-year player Montanna Taylor (St. Catharines) contributed a team-high 14 points on nine kills, three service aces and two blocks.
The Knights swept the Royals in their two regular season meetings played in the fall semester.
