BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies fell behind early and battled all afternoon but were unable to come away with a win falling 3-1 to the Algonquin Thunder in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Thunder were on fire early winning the first two sets 25-15 and 25-12 and looked to make quick work of the Grizzlies but Georgian head coach John Moore got his team to settle down and regain focus.
The Grizzlies battled back winning the third set 25-22 and fought all the way to the end in the fourth set but ultimately fell to the thunder 25-20.
Despite the loss, Georgian had great games out of Lyndon Sonego (12 points), Atley Stock (nine points) and Darren Govan (eight points).
The loss was the Grizzlies first of the season and they now sit with a 2-1 record.
The Grizzlies will try and turn it around tomorrow afternoon when they host the La Cite Coyotes at 2 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
