Redeemer Men's Indoor Soccer
Home turf advantage was more than kind to the Redeemer Royals,
winning their first men's indoor soccer championship since 2008.
Redeemer needed a pair of overtime goals on Saturday to first
defeat Centennial 1-0 in the semi-final, then Conestoga 2-1 in the
championship finale.
Sault Men's Curling
The Sault Cougars took on Canada's top collegiate curlers on
home ice, winning their first-ever national medal. Chris
Glibota's (Sault Ste. Marie) rink earned a semi-final
berth going 5-2 in the round robin. Although losing to NAIT in the
playoff, Sault was awarded bronze for its efforts.
Humber Women's Curling
The Humber Hawks won their first-ever national curling medal.
Grace Esquega's (Thunder Bay) rink earned a
semi-final berth with a 5-2 record in the round robin. Humber
outlasted NAIT 6-5 in the semis before losing to Red Deer in the
final, settling for the silver medal.
Seneca Women's Indoor Soccer
After finishing the last two seasons as bridesmaids, the Seneca Sting won their first-ever OCAA women's indoor soccer banner, needing penalty kicks to dethrone three-time defending champion Humber. Seneca's Nicole Zikovitz (Richmond Hill) was named a championship all-star.

Sheridan, Men's Basketball
The Sheridan Bruins earned their first national medal in eight
years, returning home with bronze. Sheridan went 3-1 at the
tournament, including a pair of victories on Saturday. It marks an
eighth national medallion in school history, with two gold, three
silver and three bronze.
Algonquin, Women's Basketball
Algonquin had its best finish at nationals since earning a silver medal in 2011. The Thunder split their four games, including a pair of games on Saturday. Algonquin finishes the season with a record of 21-2 in regular season, provincial and national championship play.

Humber Men's Volleyball
The Humber Hawks won their second national medal in three
seasons, taking bronze in Moose Jaw, Sask. One of their victories
came at the expense of OCAA champion Mohawk, a five-set outcome.
Mohawk defeated Humber in five sets for provincial gold two weeks
earlier. Humber was national champions in 2012.
Seneca, Women's Volleyball
The Seneca Sting did something no other OCAA team has done in 67 regular season and post-season matches - defeat seven-time provincial champion Humber. The Sting accomplished the feat on home court at nationals, winning 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-21). Seneca finished in fifth place at the tournament.

Sheridan Men's Basketball
The Sheridan Bruins outlasted tough competition to successfuly
defend their OCAA championship. George Brown took Sheridan to
overtime in the quarter-finals before the Bruins prevailed, while
silver medalist Algonquin fell one point short of Sheridan in the
gold medal game.
Algonquin Women's Basketball
The Algonquin Thunder ran the table for the second straight season, going undefeated to win an OCAA record fourth consecutive women's basketball title. Algonquin has not lost an OCAA sanctioned game since Nov. 5, 2011, a span of 58 regular season and championship games.

Mohawk Men's Volleyball
After years of heartbreak, Mohawk staved off elimination
multiple times to win its first OCAA championship in six seasons
with an epic 3-2 win over Humber in the finale. Mohawk's
Trevor McLaughlin (Kitchener) put together a
21-point performance in the final match, including 18 kills.
Humber Women's Volleyball
Humber earned its seventh straight OCAA championship with a 3-1 win over division rival Fanshawe. Setter and OCAA tournament all-star Carley Uden (Newmarket) set up Kelly Nyhof (Georgetown) for the majority of her spectacular kills including the championship clinching point.

Fanshawe, Women's Curling
Two-time defending national champion Fanshawe won the OCAA
women's curling title for the first time since 1988. Fanshawe went
6-1 in the round robin, and are led by skip Shannon
Kee (Orillia). Her teammates include vice
Christina Borgs (Guelph), second Kaitlyn
Knipe (Sarnia) and lead Meghan White
(Chatham).
Humber, Men's Badminton
Humber successfully defending its OCAA men's team title in
badminton. Andrew Lau (Markham) was one half of
Humber's mixed team that won gold; Ryan Chow
(Mississauga) took silver in men's singles; and Ra
Seang (Toronto) and Ian Tang (Toronto)
were awarded bronze in men's doubles.
Humber, Women's Badminton
Humber won the women's badminton team title for the first time
in school history. Tracy Wong (Richmond Hill)
formed one half of the gold medal winning mixed team; and the
women's doubles team of Suzy Yan (China) and
Christina Duong (Kitchener) took bronze.
Humber, Mixed Curling
Humber's gold medal in mixed curling is the first in school
history, and the first curling title of any kind since 1986. Humber
went undefeated at the championship. Skip Kyle

(Markham) and lead Heidi Beck (Maple) make up the
Humber squad.
Sault, Men's Curling
Sault College scored one in the final end to edge Humber 5-4 to take the OCAA gold medal for the second time in three years. The Sault team consists of skip Chris Glibota (Sault Ste. Marie), vice Matt Mann (Sudbury), second Kyle Sherlock (Thessalon) and lead Mark Dugas (Sault Ste. Marie).

Georgian, Humber Men's Badminton
Georgian and Humber won the OCAA East and West regional men's
team titles, respectively. Georgian's Ethan Zhao
(China) and Humber's Ryan Chow (Mississauga) both
placed first in men's singles as they look forward to a showdown at
the OCAA championships Feb. 14-15.
Centennial, Humber Women's Badminton
Centennial and Humber won the OCAA East and West regional women's team titles, respectively. Centennial's Yan Zhou (China) and Humber's Cindy Fu (Toronto) both went undefeated in women's singles. They are among the six that will compete for an OCAA women's singles crown.

Sheridan Men's Volleyball
It's crunch time for OCAA volleyball teams. Sheridan improved to
7-9 with a pair of victories over Boreal and Cambrian in Sudbury
this past weekend. The Bruins are still within striking distance of
the final playoff spot in the OCAA West, but will need to come up
with wins against St. Clair and Fanshawe.
Trent Women's Volleyball
The Trent Excalibur outlasted the Canadore Panthers 3-2 in a hard-fought match. Trent has now won seven straight, including three matches that went the distance. The battle-hard Excalibur (14-1) hosts Seneca (13-2) on Feb. 8 in a match that will likely determine first place in the OCAA East Division.

Centennial Men's Basketball
The Centennial Colts pushed themselves into third spot in the east after two wins last week. The Colts beat Durham at home 89-84 and followed that up with a 86-63 win over Fleming.
Canadore Women's Volleyball
The Canadore Panthers were a team on a mission winning two valuable games, which kept them in 4th spot in the East Division. The Panthers went on the road and earned a pair of straight sets victories over Durham and Loyalist. Canadore is now just two points behind Seneca and Georgian going into this week.

Humber Volleyball
Humber's volleyball teams were thrown into an unenviable
position of playing four matches in five days and over 1,000 km in
distance due to previous travel issues. Both Hawks clubs got
through the stretch unscathed, sweeping each of their first three
matches then outlasting their Niagara counterparts in five
sets.
Mohawk Women's Basketball
The Mohawk Mountaineers came up with their biggest win of the season, a 67-39 victory over West Division-leading Humber on Jan. 16. Two days later, Mohawk defeated Lambton 92-60 to extend its win streak to a season-high four games. Mohawk hosts the OCAA championship Feb. 27-Mar. 1.

Fleming Men's Volleyball
Fleming swept the two-game season series against George Brown.
Andrew Ross (London) recorded a team-high 15 kills
in Fleming's five-set victory on Jan. 8. Fleming improved to .500
with the win. George Brown has a record of 8-3, with its only other
loss coming against first-place Algonquin.
Georgian Women's Volleyball
The Georgian Grizzlies have not lost a set thus far in 2014 with a pair of straight sets victories. Erin McClean (Barrie) led the Grizzlies with 13 points Friday night in a 3-0 win over Algonquin and followed that with a 10-point performance in a second straight sweep at Loyalist.

Niagara Men's Volleyball
The Niagara Knights stand alone as the OCAA's only undefeated
team at the mid-season mark. Niagara defeated Conestoga 3-1 to
improve to 9-0, dropping just seven sets all season. Daniel
Groenveld (Welland) is among the league leaders averaging
5.0 points per set.
Fanshawe Women's Volleyball
The Fanshawe Falcons dropped their season opener to Humber, then proceeded to win eight straight, closing out the first half of the regular season with a straight sets victory at St. Clair. Kaitlyn Kelly (London) is among the division leaders averaging 4.1 points per set.

Algonquin Men's Basketball
The undefeated Algonquin Thunder became the first OCAA team to reach 10 wins, winning three times in a span of four days with home wins over La Cité, Seneca and Canadore. Fifth-year guard Njuguna Waiganjo (Ottawa) leads the Thunder averaging 21-2 points per game.
Seneca Women's Volleyball
Seneca earned a key 3-1 victory against previously unbeaten Trent on Nov. 30 to move on top of the OCAA East standings with an 8-1 record. It was a balanced effort by the Sting, with Lindsay Ballance (Napanee) earning a team-high 12 points, and three others earning 11 points.

Sault Men's Basketball
Sault ended its first half of the regular season on a positive
note, defeating Cambrian 73-55. It was a true team effort with five
different Cougars hitting double digits in scoring. Javier
Stephenson (Scarborough) scored a team-high 16 points, and
Kojo Afari (Hamilton) earned a double-double with
12 points and 14 rebounds.
Conestoga Women's Volleyball
Conestoga ended a four-match losing streak with a pair of victories in Sudbury. The Condors swept Boréal 3-0, and outlasted Cambrian in five sets. Mallory O'Hara (Kitchener) earned double-digits in points in both matches for a total of 28, including 19 kills, six service aces and three blocks.

Humber Men's Rugby
Humber won its fourth straight OCAA men's rugby championship on
Sunday, defeating Algonquin 24-16. Both clubs were undefeated
heading into the contest. Humber has now medalled in each of the
past eight seasons and is one shy of a record five straight gold
medals set by Seneca from 2001 to 2005.
Algonquin Women's Rugby
Algonquin completed a perfect season in women's rugby, winning the OCAA championship 35-21 against Humber on Sunday. Algonquin battled back from a 21-15 halftime deficit, outscoring Humber 20-0 to win its second straight provincial title. Algonquin has not lost an OCAA match since 2011.

Fanshawe Men's Cross Country
Fanshawe successfully defended its men's team title at cross country nationals hosted by Humber. Fanshawe accumulated 39 team points, well ahead of second-place Humber which amassed 94. The Fanshawe men's team has now medalled at nine straight nationals.
Humber Men's Soccer
The four-time defending OCAA champions are now two-time defending national champions. Humber became the fifth program to repeat as national champions, and the first OCAA school since Seneca won three straight in the 1980s. Humber won three matches, outscoring its opponents 8-2.
St. Clair Women's Cross Country
OCAA women's team champion St. Clair capped off a tremendous season, earning its first-ever cross country national team medal, finishing in third place. They were also the top OCAA program at the meet. Kodi Morgan (Windsor) led the Saints with a 13th place finish with a 5 km time of 20:24.

Conestoga Men's Rugby
Needing a road victory against an unknown opponent to keep its
season alive, the Conestoga Condors outlasted Fleming 38-26 to
advance to the OCAA semi-finals. Four different players scored for
Conestoga, including Rich Lebel (Waterloo) who
scored three tries while adding four converts.
St. Lawrence-Kingston Women's Rugby
The St. Lawrence Vikings came up with their biggest win of the year, a 10-0 road victory over Seneca in the OCAA crossovers. This despite finishing the regular season with a 2-3-1 record. Juletta Cull (Douglas) and Adriana Oliveira (Kingston) both scored to lift St. Lawrence into the OCAA semi-finals.

Fanshawe Men's Cross Country
The Fanshawe Falcons became the first program to win five
consecutive OCAA men's team championships in cross country.
Fanshawe saw four of its runners place in the top 13, giving it 24
team points, 25 more than runner-up Humber. St. Lawrence College
(Kingston) set the previous record from 1978-1981.
Humber Men's Soccer
The Humber Hawks won their fourth consecutive OCAA men's soccer championship by not allowing a goal in two matches. Humber outlasted Sheridan 4-3 in penalty kicks in the semi-finals before edging host Algonquin 1-0 in the gold medal match. Humber now looks to defend its national championship.
Algonquin Women's Soccer
The Algonquin Thunder won their first OCAA women's soccer
championship since 2002. In a battle of undefeated division rivals,
Algonquin edged Seneca 2-1 in the gold medal match. Algonquin also
eliminated three-time defending champion Humber 1-0 in the
semi-finals.
St. Clair Women's Cross Country
In rainy and windy conditions at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area, the St. Clair Saints had their finest overall team performance in several seasons, winning their first OCAA women's team gold medal since 1998. St. Clair placed four runners in the top 19 for 34 team points, 11 more than runner-up Humber.

Humber Men's Golf
Humber's run of four consecutive national men's team titles came
to an end, but the Hawks did not come home empty handed, earning a
silver medal in Quebec City. Humber's Alex Dumais
(Caledon) was named to the tournament all‐star team,
finishing fourth overall.
St. Clair Men's Baseball
The Saints will go down in history as the first-ever OCAA men's
baseball champions. St. Clair defeated Durham 5-2 in the gold medal
game to go a perfect 3-0 at the tournament. Championship all-star
Ryan Kerstens (Kingston) earned player of the game
honours with three hits.
Humber Women's Fastball
For the second consecutive season, the Humber Hawks are OCAA
women's fastball champions. Facing elimination from the
double-knockout tournament after a Friday loss, Humber won three
consecutive games, including two against regular season champion
St. Clair College, to win the title.
St. Clair Women's Golf
St. Clair earned women's team silver at nationals for its first medal since winning gold in 2005. Two-time OCAA medalist Heather MacKenzie (Essex) had a strong tournament at 24-over par, four strokes out of the bronze position. She earned tournament all-star status with her Top 4 finish.

Fleming Men's Soccer
Fleming avenged a regular season loss to Durham with a 3-1 win in an OCAA playoff qualifier. It was a complete team effort with Joey Penello (Fraserville), Daniel Burns (Apsley) and Oshane Hylton (Ajax) all scoring for the Knights. Fleming advances to the OCAA quarter-finals at Humber.
Cambrian Women's Soccer
Cambrian made the long journey to Durham for an OCAA playoff qualifier. The Golden Shield made sure the return trip was enjoyable, pulling out a 1-0 overtime victory. T.K. Rocca (Sault Ste. Marie) was the hero with the game winner. Cambrian moves on to the OCAA quarter-finals at Humber.

Humber Men's Golf
Humber claimed its eighth consecutive OCAA Division I men's golf
team title, tying the record for the most consecutive OCAA banners
in any sport, sharing the mark with Mohawk College women's cross
country in the 1980s. The Hawks were 35 strokes better than their
closest rival, Georgian.
Mohawk Men's Golf
Mohawk won the OCAA Division II men's golf team title, with the
Mountaineers finishing 10 strokes better than runner-up St. Clair.
Jair Saenz (Burlington) was Mohawk's top golfer at
the tournament with seven-over par 234, good for a tie for 13th
place. Mohawk claimed the Division II bronze medal last year.
Humber Women's Golf
Adrienne D'Alessio (Woodbridge) and Candice Campbell (Corunna) combined to give Humber its first OCAA women's golf team title since 2009. Their combined 54-hole scores of 508 was 19 strokes better than defending champion St. Clair. Both golfers were named to the OCAA All-Ontario team.

Fleming Men's Rugby
Fleming has Peterborough bragging rights in intercollegiate men's rugby following a 25-0 victory over crosstown rival Trent. Four different Knights scored tries, while Josh Boyles (Peterborough) was successful on a convert and penalty kick. Fleming hosts Algonquin on Oct. 5 in a battle of 3-0 teams.
Seneca Women's Rugby
After falling behind 5-0 at halftime, the Seneca Sting scored 14 unanswered points to spoil Sheridan's homecoming match and preserve Seneca's perfect 3-0 start to the regular season. Jennifer Wedlock (Richmond Hill) scored a try and was successful on two converts in the victory.

Centennial Men's Soccer
With over half its regular season in the books, Centennial is undefeated through five matches. The Colts survived a road trip to the nation's capital, edging La Cité 1-0 before tying undefeated Algonquin 1-1. Trevor Samuels (Scarborough) and Mark Tarazhi (Sterling Heights, Mich.) scored huge goals in these matches.
Mohawk Women's Soccer
After dropping their first two matches, Mohawk improved to .500 with home wins over Lambton and St. Clair. Rachelle DeJong (Ancaster) and Shari Leavitt (Mississauga) both scored in back-to-back matches. Mohawk has equaled last season's win total with four matches remaining.

Niagara Men's Soccer
The Niagara Knights won their biggest match in recent memory, defeating defending national and three-time provincial champion Humber 1-0. Carlos Williams (St. Catharines) scored the game's lone goal in the 86th minute. Niagara had a record of 1-5-2 last season.
Lambton Women's Soccer
The Lambton Lions are undefeated to start the season at 1-0-1. The Lions opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Conestoga before defeating reigning OCAA West regional champion Sheridan 2-1 to match Lambton's win total of last season. Laura Gillett (Chatham) scored in both matches.

St. Clair Men's Baseball
Due to rainouts on Saturday, the first-ever OCAA regular season men's baseball game was played between St. Clair and George Brown on Sunday. St. Clair pitchers Kyle Breitner (Mississauga), Kyle Beenen (Toronto) and Connor Soulliere (Windsor) combined for a no-hitter, striking out nine in a 13-0 win.
George Brown, Women's Soccer
George Brown didn't show any rust after a 12-year absence in OCAA women's soccer. The Huskies defeated crosstown rival Centennial 4-0 for their first victory since Sept. 30, 2000. Elaine Macpherson (Toronto) scored a pair of goals in the win. Until this season, George Brown last participated in women's soccer in 2000-01.
