MEN'S TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Fanshawe, Men's Curling
The Fanshawe Falcons secured their third national medal in four seasons, taking silver in Olds, Alta. Following a 1-3 start, Fanshawe got stronger as the bonspiel wore on, winning three straight to earn a spot in the tiebreaker. The Falcons won two more games in the playoffs, but ran out of steam in the gold medal match. Fanshawe has won gold, silver and bronze in the past four years.
Fleming, Men's Curling
The Fleming Knights won their first national championship and medal in men's curling. Fleming proved to be the top team in the round robin, going 5-2 and earning a ticket directly into the gold medal match. Fleming and OCAA-rival Fanshawe were tied through the first seven ends, but Fleming blew the game wide open scoring two in the eight and two more in the ninth to win 8-4.
WOMEN'S TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Fanshawe, Women's Curling
The Fanshawe Falcons won their third national women's curling title in the past four seasons. In a rematch of the OCAA final, Fanshawe defeated Humber 4-2 in the gold medal game. Three Falcons were named championship all-stars, including skip Shannon Kee (Sarnia, Ont.), vice Rachelle Vink (Woodstock, Ont.) and second Christina Borgs (Guelph, Ont).
Humber, Women's Curling
The Humber Hawks fell just short of a national title, but still returned home with a silver medal, their second in two seasons. Humber finished in a three-way tie for first place at 5-2, but advanced to the gold medal match thanks to a favourable tiebreaker. Having defeated Fanshawe 7-5 in extra ends in the round robin, the Hawks could not repeat their success in the final, losing 4-2.

MEN'S TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Humber, Men's Basketball
Humber won the men's basketball national championship for a record sixth time. Coming off a silver medal at provincials, Humber won three straight games by an average of eight points, including a 68-62 win over Vancouver Island in the gold medal game. Third-year players Tyrone Dickson (Scarborough, Ont.) and Gibson Eduful (Brampton, Ont.) were named championship all-stars.
Humber, Men's Indoor Soccer
Humber returned to the top of the podium in OCAA men's indoor soccer. Humber edged Centennial 1-0 in the gold medal match to win its first goal medal in three seasons, and 13th championship overall. The Hawks won all five game they competed in, outscoring the competition 15-3. Kingsley Boasiako (Brampton, Ont.) and Jordan Piccinin (Brampton, Ont.) were named championship all-stars.
WOMEN'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
St. Clair, Women's Indoor Soccer
In just their second season since reviving their women's indoor soccer program, St. Clair won the OCAA championship in dramatic fashion. St. Clair dethroned defending champion Seneca in the semi-final via penalty kicks, then edged Fanshawe 1-0 in overtime in the gold medal match. Veteran player Stefanie Dummer (Windsor, Ont.) was named a championship all-star.

MEN'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
Niagara, Men's Volleyball
For the first time in program history, the Niagara Knights men's volleyball team captured a medal at nationals. In a rematch of the OCAA gold medal match, the Knights swept St. Clair Saints in the bronze medal match in Charlottetown. Set scores were 25-23, 25-21, 25-15. Niagara dropped its opening match, but rebounded to win three straight, including two on the final day.

Mohawk, Men's Basketball
The Mohawk Mountaineers never trailed at any point in the OCAA gold medal game, defeating division rival Humber 84-74 for their first OCAA championship since 2012. Mohawk lost to Humber twice during the regular season. Fifth-year guard Matt Savel (Hamilton, Ont.) scored 21 points and six assists, while Andrew Cicuttini (Dundas, Ont.) contributed 14 points and eight boards.

Humber, Women's Basketball
The Humber Hawks won their first OCAA women's basketball championship since 2005, defeating the Mohawk Mountaineers 61-46 in the gold medal game. Aleena Domingo (Toronto) scored a game-high 13 points as Humber swept the season series against its division rival three straight. Mohawk lost only three times during the regular and post-season, all to Humber.

MEN'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
Niagara, Men's Volleyball
Niagara ended a decade-long OCAA medal and championship drought by winning the gold medal at men's volleyball provincials. Niagara eliminated defending OCAA champion Mohawk in five sets in the quarter-finals before downing Fanshawe in the semi-finals. Facing host St. Clair and its partisan crowd in the finale, Niagara came back from one-set down to win in four.

Humber, Women's Volleyball
The Humber Hawks won their record eighth consecutive OCAA championship, sweeping Durham 3-0 in the gold medal match. Humber also tied Seneca College for most championships in OCAA women's volleyball history with a dozen titles each. Humber won its 21st overall medal, also a record. Humber has now won 88 straight regular and OCAA post-season matches.

Humber, Men's Badminton
Humber successfully defended its OCAA men's badminton team title for the third straight season. One half of the mixed doubles champions Adam Dong (China), men's singles silver medalist Jesse Assing (Bethany, Ont.), and men's doubles silver medalists Ryan Chow (Mississauga, Ont.) and Darcy Schmidt (Haliburton, Ont.) all contributed to the team title.

Humber, Women's Badminton
Humber has won back-to-back OCAA women's badminton team titles. One half of the mixed doubles champions Tracy Wong (Richmond Hill, Ont.), women's singles gold and silver medalists Olivia Lei (China) and Cindy Fu (China), respectively, as well as women's doubles silver medalists Christina Duong (Kitchener, Ont.) and Michelle Chow (Markham, Ont.) all contributed to the repeat.

Sault, Men's Curling
The Sault men's curling team, skipped by Chris Glibota (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), went undefeated at provincials, scoring the gold medal winning point in the final end of a 4-3 victory over host Fleming. Glibota was teamed up with vice Matt Mann (Renfrew, Ont.), second Kyle Sherlock (Thessalon, Ont.), lead Josh Vanderburg (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) and alternate Brad Manson (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).
MIXED TEAM OF THE WEEK
Sault, Mixed Curling
Sault's mixed curling team was golden at provincials with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over defending champion Humber in the final. Sault skip Duncan Janveau (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) was teamed with vice Sandy Toole (Cambridge, Ont.), second Thomas McLean (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), lead Aislyn Ireton (Perth, Ont.) and alternate Jennifer Lalonde (Wawa, Ont.).

Fanshawe successfully defended its women's curling title with an 8-6 victory over Humber in the final. Fanshawe's only loss came against Humber in the round robin. Falcons skip Shannon Kee (Sarnia, Ont.) was partnered with vice Rachelle Vink (Woodstock, Ont.), second Christina Borgs (Guelph, Ont.), lead Tess Bobbie (Scarborough, Ont.) and alternate Julie Clinton (London, Ont.).

Mohawk, Men's Volleyball
The defending OCAA champion Mohawk Mountaineers clinched the west regional title with a nail-biting five-set win over Niagara. Four Mountaineers recorded kill totals in double digits with fifth-year outside hitter Adam Schiedel (Kitchener, Ont.) leading the way with a match-high 19 points. Mohawk is 15-1 with two matches remaining.

St. Clair, Women's Volleyball
The St. Clair Saints were forced to play three matches in five days, but lost just one set. St. Clair defeated Fanshawe in four sets before sweeps of Cambrian and Boréal. Third-year left side Helen Wiebe (Leamington, Ont.) tallied 23 kills and 26 points against Fanshawe, with a grand total of 38 kills and 41 points in the three matches.

Durham, Men's Basketball
The first-place Durham Lords (14-2) increased their winning streak to seven games with victories over Centennial (10-5) and Georgian (11-5) this week. First-year guard Aaron Hayles (Pickering, Ont.) scored a season-high 18 points in a 90-72 against Centennial, then had another season-high 21 points in an 84-70 win at Georgian.

Centennial, Women's Basketball
OCAA championship host Centennial has not dropped a regular season game in 2015. The Colts improved to 9-3 with a key 71-69 overtime win over Durham. Second-year post player Samantha Reid (Toronto) grabbed 26 rebounds in the win. Centennial faces a litmus test when it visits defending champion Algonquin on Feb. 7.

St. Clair, Men's Volleyball
St. Clair came up with a big 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23) win and season sweep over Sheridan to move into third place in the OCAA west standings. Although tied with Sheridan with nine wins, the Saints has three matches in hand. St. Clair was led by Jason Hernandez (Harrow, Ont.) and his 19 kills.

Seneca, Women's Volleyball
Seneca outlasted Durham 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 17-25, 15-12) to move into a tie for second place at 10-4. Seneca also defeated Durham in five sets earlier in the season, gaining an all-important tiebreaker in a competitive east region. Lauren Watt (Barrie, Ont.) led the way for Seneca with 11 kills, four blocks an an ace totaling 16 points.

Lambton, Men's Basketball
The Lambton Lions improved to 7-4 with a pair of victories over St. Clair and Fanshawe. Lambton avenged an October loss at St. Clair with a 83-79 win at home, then swept the season series versus Fanshawe with a 74-66 win at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ont. Lambton has now won five straight.

St. Lawrence-Kingston, Women's Basketball
The St. Lawrence Vikings ended Algonquin's 67-game win streak against OCAA competition (regular and post-season) with a 77-52 victory at home. Vikings all-time leading scorer Lacey Knox (Kingston, Ont.) scored a game-high 30 points in the win. Both teams are now tied atop the east standings at 9-1.

George Brown, Men's Basketball
George Brown began 2015 by ending a four-game losing skid with a 74-71 win over crosstown rival Centennial. Guards Dennis Johnson (Toronto) and Kasey Morris (Toronto) both contributed double-doubles in the victory, combining for 30 points and 22 rebounds. George Brown improved to 6-5 in a competitive east region.
WOMEN'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
Canadore, Women's Volleyball
Canadore won a pair of road matches in straight sets to begin 2015, lifting the Panthers into a second place tie with Durham in the east region. Second-year player Caitlin Hebert (North Bay, Ont.) recorded 24 points in wins over Seneca and George Brown. A showdown between Canadore and Durham takes place Jan. 17.

Durham, Men's Volleyball
The Durham Lords completed a perfect first half of their 2014-15 regular season with a straight sets win over George Brown. Durham is on top of the OCAA east standings at 9-0 having dropped just five sets. Fifth-year middle Jeremy Hoekstra (Cobourg, Ont.) leads the Lords in scoring averaging 3.9 points per set.

Mohawk, Women's Basketball
The Mohawk Mountaineers climbed to the top of the OCAA west standings with a 66-61 win over Fanshawe. Mohawk has won eight straight, and is tied with Humber with an 8-1 record with nine games to play. Second-year guard Stef Hrymak (Hamilton, Ont.) is the top scorer on the Mountaineers averaging 17.4 points per game.

The Fanshawe Falcons ended Humber's quest for an undefeated season, defeating the Hawks 79-72. Four different Falcons reached double digits in scoring, including Kyle McConnell (London, Ont.) and his team-high 17 points. Fanshawe ended Humber's eight game win streak, and is now undefeated in six games.

The Humber Hawks finished the first half of their women's volleyball regular season undefeated at 9-0, losing just three sets out of 30. Thalia Hanniman (Pembroke, Ont.) leads all Hawks averaging 4.2 points per set. Humber has won 76 straight OCAA regular and post-season matches heading into 2015.

Loyalist, Men's Basketball
The Loyalist Lancers traveled to the nation's capital and returned home with victories over Algonquin and La Cité. It was a memorable homecoming for fourth-year forward Muller Kalala (Ottawa) who scored 19 points in each contest. Loyalist is on a four-game win streak as it prepares for its final two games of the first half.

Sheridan, Women's Basketball
The Sheridan Bruins were told to go west, and go west they did, returning with a pair of victories over Lambton and St. Clair to improve to 5-3. The 58-56 win over St. Clair was especially rewarding, with leading scorer Shylanda Saunders (Dartmouth, N.S.) scoring the winning bucket with just three seconds to play.

Seneca, Men's Volleyball
With a five-set victory (25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 20-25, 15-13) over Canadore, Seneca has surpassed last season's win total of three in just their fifth match. David Lyon (Lethbridge, Alta.) and Ishmael Kotey (Mississauga, Ont.) each had a dozen kills. The 4-1 Sting sit in third place in the OCAA east standings.

Georgian moved into a three-way tie for first place following a five-set victory (25-21, 25-20, 12-25, 11-25, 17-15) over previously undefeated Trent. Georgian, Trent and Canadore all share 5-1 records and are all 1-1 against each other in what is turning out to be an exciting race in the OCAA east standings.

Fanshawe, Men's Cross Country
The Fanshawe men's cross country team saw its season end with a silver lining, finishing second at nationals in Calgary. It was Fanshawe's 10th straight medal at nationals, officially marking a decade of excellence for the men's cross country program. Ryan Foott (London, Ont.) was the top Fanshawe runner, finishing sixth.
Humber, Men's Cross Country
Humber won its first-ever national championship in men's cross country, upsetting six-time reigning provincial champion Fanshawe in Calgary. Daniel Bright (Brampton, Ont.) and Eric Bang (Oakville, Ont.) finished in 16th and 17th place overall, leading the Hawks to the elusive gold medal.
Humber, Men's Rugby
Humber tied an OCAA record winning its fifth consecutive men's rugby title with a 29-18 win over Trent in the gold medal match. Second-year players Steve Fievet (Alliston, Ont.) and Scott Gauer (Mississauga, Ont.) scored one try each for Humber. The Hawks now have an OCAA-best seven OCAA men's rugby banners.
Sheridan, Men's Soccer
Sheridan won its first national men's soccer title, but it wasn't easy. After a late equalizer in the semi-final forced penalty kicks (ultimately won by the Bruins), Sheridan trailed twice in the final, but lost the lead in stoppage time. Sheridan then led most of overtime, only to see it taken away late. Sheridan again prevailed in penalty kicks to win the title.

Humber, Women's Rugby
Humber is once again on top of the podium in OCAA women's rugby with a 19-17 win over Seneca in the gold medal match. Fourth-year player Luci Foss (Trenton, Ont.) was named a championship all-star. Kareece McGregor (Scarborough, Ont.) and Mariko Reilly (Pickering, Ont.) each scored a try for the victorious Hawks.

Seneca won its first-ever national medal in women's soccer. After an opening loss, Seneca won three straight to capture the bronze medal, including a bronze semi-final that was decided by penalty kicks. Seneca avenged its opening 4-0 loss to Ahuntsic by winning 2-1 in the bronze medal final.

Trent, Men's Rugby
The Trent Excalibur advanced to the OCAA gold medal match with a 40-29 win over Algonquin. Trent's Jesse Leadbetter (Midland, Ont.) contributed a match-high 15 points on a try and five converts. Trent will be awarded its third OCAA medal in four seasons, but aims to win its first-ever OCAA championship at home.

Seneca, Women's Rugby
The Seneca Sting have advanced to the OCAA gold medal match with a 46-14 win over Fleming in the OCAA semi-finals. First-year forward Misha Maric (Scarborough, Ont.) scored a match-high 11 points on a try and three converts. Seneca seeks its first OCAA championship when it battles Humber at Algonquin.

Algonquin, Men's Soccer
Algonquin won its first OCAA men's soccer title since 2009 with a 1-0 overtime victory over four-time defending champion Humber in the gold medal match. First-year player Kishoyian Kipusi (Kenya) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 105th minute of the match.
Fanshawe, Men's Cross Country
Fanshawe improved its OCAA record to six straight men's cross country team championships. The Falcons were led by OCAA individual silver medalist Seth Marcaccio (Byron, Ont.) who finished in an eight kilometre time of 27:59. Fanshawe has won 13 OCAA men's team titles, more than any other program.
St. Clair, Men's Baseball
St. Clair won its second consecutive Ontario University Athletics (OUA)/OCAA men's baseball title by defeating OUA champion Brock University twice. The Saints topped Brock in the first game 3-2 and needed the extra game in the double knock-out format to win the championship by a score of 7-5.

Humber, Women's Cross Country
Humber won its third OCAA women's cross country team title in four years. The Hawks had two of the top three runners at the meet, including individual gold medalist Lindsay Webster (Alton, Ont.) and her top five kilometre time of 20:38, as well as bronze medalist Coby Phillips (Brampton, Ont.) and her time of 21:21.
Seneca, Women's Soccer
Seneca are the 2014 OCAA women's soccer champions, avenging a 2-1 loss to Algonquin in last year's gold medal match with a 1-0 victory. OCAA league all-star Emma Gattoni (Thornhill, Ont.) scored the winning goal in the 56th minute. The third-year midfielder led Seneca with 10 goals during the regular season.

St. Clair Men's Baseball
St. Clair won its second consecutive OCAA men's baseball title with a 6-4 victory over Durham in a rematch of last year's gold medal game. The Saints cruised through day one with two wins with a combined score of 20-1. St. Clair has lost just once in OCAA competition this season, and now look to defend its OUA/OCAA championship.

St. Clair is the 2014 OCAA women's softball champions after a 7-5 victory over Conestoga in the gold medal game. It is St. Clair's first championship since 2009, and fourth in school history. Alexa Georgiou (Windsor, Ont.) was named MVP and Lisa Ternosky (Windsor, Ont.) was named a championship all-star.

St. Lawrence-Kingston Men's Soccer
The St. Lawrence Vikings may be the lowest playoff seed in the east region, but they are also one of eight teams with a shot at an OCAA championship. St. Lawrence-Kingston upset Centennial 4-3 in penalty kicks in the qualifying round to match its regular season win total of one, and advance to the OCAA quarter-finals.
WOMEN'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
Loyalist Women's Soccer
Playing in their first playoff match since 2005, the Loyalist Lancers will only wait 10 days to play their next one. Loyalist needed penalty kicks to defeat St. Lawrence-Kingston 2-1 and advance to the OCAA quarter-finals. Second-year forward Sonya Dronsfield (Nepean, Ont.) scored in regulation time for Loyalist.

Humber Men's Golf
Humber won its OCAA-record ninth straight men's golf team title, becoming the first varsity program in any sport to win this many consecutive OCAA banners. Scott Benzoni (Oakville, Ont.), Christian McCullough (Richmond Hill, Ont.), Cole Kent (Peterborough, Ont.), Barrett McCarthy (Burlington, Ont.) and Mike Crapper (Chelsea, Ont.) all contributed to Humber's historic gold.
Mohawk Men's Golf
Mohawk was awarded the OCAA Division II men's team championship for the second straight year. Led by 2014 OCAA men's individual golf champion Michael Rizzetto (Brantford, Ont.), Mohawk won by 28 strokes over silver medalist Fleming. Mohawk has won team medals in each of the last four OCAA championships.
WOMEN'S TEAM OF THE WEEK
St. Clair Women's Golf
St. Clair won its second women's team championship in school history. The trio of Ashley Unrau (St. Thomas, Ont.), Victoria Ducharme (Windsor, Ont.) and Laura Martin (Chatham, Ont.) shot 42 strokes better than second-place Georgian. Unrau placed third overall to earn her second individual bronze medal in three seasons.

Humber Men's Baseball
After starting the year 1-3, the Humber Hawks have reeled off 10 straight victories for the longest active win streak in men's baseball. Fifth-year outfielder Brian MacDonald (Markham, Ont.) leads all OCAA players with four home runs and 25 runs batted in. Humber has a key doubleheader against first-place St. Clair this weekend.

St. Lawrence-Kingston Women's Soccer
In danger of free falling right out of the OCAA playoff chase, the St. Lawrence Vikings came up with a huge 5-1 victory at George Brown to pull into a fourth place tie with their opponents, and a potential tiebreaker in hand. Megan Simpson (Napanee, Ont.) scored two goals for St. Lawrence. The top six advance to the post-season.

Centennial Men's Soccer
Centennial improved to 2-0-1 with a 2-0 win at Seneca and 3-2 victory over Durham. Five different Colts scored goals in the victories, including Shaq Aggard (Scarborough, Ont.), Jamal Fingal (Pickering, Ont.), Guedei Korei Djimi (Scarborough, Ont.), Mark Tarazhi (Detroit, Mich.) and Robbie Vidakovic (Scarborough, Ont.).

St. Clair Women's Softball
One no-hitter is a rarity. But two on one day? St. Clair Saints pitchers Jenna Pierce (London, Ont.) and Alexa Georgiou (Windsor, Ont.) combined to throw back-to-back no-hitters in a doubleheader sweep of Mohawk, which included Georgiou's perfect game. Georgiou struck out 12 of 15 batters she faced. St. Clair has won nine straight.

Lambton Men's Soccer
The Lambton Lions are 2-0-0 for the first time in recent memory following 2-1 victories over Conestoga and Mohawk. Lambton has not won two matches in a regular season since 2006, when the Lions went 3-5-0. First-year striker Richeal O'Neill (Sarnia, Ont.) scored both goals in the victory over Mohawk.

Cambrian Women's Soccer
After being at the wrong end of a 2-0 outcome against defending OCAA champion Algonquin, the Cambrian Golden Shield have rebounded with a couple of convincing wins to move to the top half of the OCAA standings. Tiffany Johnson (Sudbury, Ont.) and Taylor Rocca (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) have scored five goals each for Cambrian.

Fanshawe Men's Baseball
It is a terrific debut for the Fanshawe Falcons in OCAA men's baseball, jumping out to a 3-1 start with a doubleheader sweep of Seneca and a split against defending OCAA silver medalist Durham. Fanshawe is currently second in the standings. Men's baseball became an OCAA varsity sport last season.

The Fanshawe Falcons made their debut in OCAA women's softball, and now find themselves on top of the OCAA standings following a doubleheader sweep of Mohawk. With its 2-0 record, Fanshawe finds itself a full game ahead of 2013 OCAA medal winners St. Clair and Conestoga, along with Seneca.
